Stand with Hood Plans
The Cabinet...Here's
a big, solid aquarium stand that will surely beautify any room it is in.
The stand has plenty of reinforcement to ensure maximum support and stability.
It will accommodate aquariums measuring up to 48" x 18" but you can easily
modify these measurements to fit other large standard-sized aquariums. The 3
large raised panel doors hide the spacious storage shelves built under the
aquarium. This project was designed to match our Hood/Canopy Plan #04-808.
Finish used for this project:
water-based Flecto Varathane Diamond Wood Finish, in a satin sheen.

After the initial investment, you may have nice looking fish in a wonderful tank
but now lack the financial resources to purchase a decent looking cabinet and
hood at a reasonable price. You'll be surprised how much cheaper it is to
build your own and best of all you can customize it to your taste.
This hood is designed to complement our 90
Gallon Aquarium Cabinet Plan #04-803 but can be
easily modified to fit other aquarium set-ups. It
will fit on aquariums measuring in the range of approximately 48"
wide x 18" deep.
We built this hood from solid oak and plywood.
This project incorporates simple joinery
techniques and therefore, makes it easy to build for the beginner woodworker.
A hood is used to hide the lighting
fixtures but also adds quite a bit to the finished look of the whole set-up.
