The Cabinet...Add
value and enhance the natural beauty of your terrarium or aquarium by building
this solid wood cabinet. Easy to build, this inexpensive knotty pine stand
is sure to embellish any room it is placed in. The plan includes two hood
designs; one for either an aquarium or terrarium set-up. The cabinet will
accommodate aquariums measuring approximately 30 1/2" wide x12" deep (appropriate
for most standard sized 20 gallon "long" and 29 gallon glass tanks).
This project incorporates simple joinery
techniques and therefore, makes it easy to build for the beginner woodworker.
The raised panel doors can be substituted for simpler flat panel doors.
Finish used for this project:
water-based Flecto Varathane Diamond Wood Finish, in a satin sheen over Minwax
Accents water-based semi-transparent finish, Midnight Blue

The Hood...
No aquarium set-up would be complete without a proper hood. The hood is
used to hide the lighting fixtures and also adds quite a bit to the finished
look of the whole set-up. We built the hood entirely from solid pine but
you may use plywood. Easy and inexpensive to build, this hood will fit on aquariums measuring approximately 30
1/2"
wide x12" deep. The plan includes two hood designs; one for either an aquarium
